A few years ago, a satellite TV company aired a commercial that made me chuckle. The announcer says:
"When you have cable and your picture freezes, you get irritable."
"When you get irritable your work suffers." A man in a suit is shown at his desk, opposite what is presumed to be a client of some kind.
"When your work suffers, the wrong man is convicted." We see a courtroom, where the judge strikes his gavel as he pronounces sentence on the client from the previous office scene. It is now obvious that the man in the suit is a lawyer.
"When the wrong man is convicted, he has time to think." We see the client in a cell, heavily tattooed and vigorously doing sit-ups.
"When he has time to think, he thinks about you. A lot." We now see that the prisoner is doing sit-ups as he faces a picture of the lawyer, which is taped to the cell wall.
"And when he thinks about you a lot (we see the lawyer opening the mailbox in front of his house) . . .
"your house explodes." There is a violent explosion that completely demolishes the lawyer's house.
"Don't have your house explode. Get rid of cable and upgrade to satellite TV." A toll-free number is then provided.
And so it is with our lives:
When you've lived without Real Love, you are empty and afraid.
Then when people inconvenience you or fail to cooperate with you, you protect yourself or manipulate them to get what you want.
Then they attack you, or manipulate you in return, or withdraw from you.
Your frightened view of the world confirmed, you manipulate and protect even more.
The cycle continues.
Your head explodes.
Replace your anger and confusion with peace and happiness.
