Such Power

I received the following letter from a woman who has been practicing unconditional love for a year or so:

“I finally get it. After all the love I’ve received, and all the thinking I’ve done, it’s much simpler than I thought. I'm worthwhile no matter what, whether I lie down like a log and do nothing, or I’m bold and energetic and loving. Being myself isn't fitting into some category of personality traits. It's the ability to make a choice.

“When I trust that I'm already worthwhile, I no longer need people's approval. I’m not stuck trying to make people happy, so I'm free to choose—really choose. Talk or don't talk, laugh or don't laugh, love or withdraw, I exist in a place where I always have a CHOICE. Wow, knowing this and feeling it is so relaxing.”

How lovely to read the freedom and joy in the words of someone who used to be so tense and unhappy. The greatest power in life is the ability to making loving choices—guided by the truth—no matter what is going on around us, rather than simply reacting to people and circumstances.
