Feeling emotionally numb and distant from love?

We all have the capacity for love and joy, but sometimes fear and neglect can weaken our emotional muscles.

This article explores how emotional neglect can blind us to love and how, with courage and the support of others, we can rebuild our emotional strength and rediscover the light within ourselves.

Losing Our Sight in the Darkness

Imagine fish born with eyes yet living in eternal cave darkness. Over generations, their eyes would atrophy from disuse.

Similarly, many of us, raised in emotional and spiritual darkness, lose the ability to sense love's light. Years of neglect blind us to its presence.

A Path Back to the Light

This blindness isn't permanent, though. Just as people can guide us towards physical light, others can help us rediscover the love that surrounds us.

It takes faith and effort, but the ability to see and feel love again is worth the struggle.

Disuse Breeds Weakness: The Emotional Coma

Consider a teenager I knew who worked at a hospital. A young athlete fell into a coma after a head injury. Within weeks, his unused muscles atrophied. Disuse weakens, both physically and emotionally.

Many of us live in emotional comas, fueled by fear. Fear cripples our emotional muscles, leaving us numb to anything beyond fear and pain.

We lose the ability to feel safety, worth, confidence, love, and joy.

The Miracle Drug of Real Love®

The power of Real Love®, however, is a miracle drug. As we trust the love offered to us, we awaken from our fear-induced coma.

We begin exercising our emotional muscles, regaining the ability to feel love, happiness, and confidence – just like a coma patient rebuilding lost muscle mass.

The Emotional Gym: Lifting Weights for Growth

For emotional and spiritual growth, we need to exercise these muscles regularly.

The world provides ample opportunities – injustice, unkindness, anger, even our own flaws. These experiences are often difficult but avoiding them weakens us further.

The Reward of Courage: Strength and Rediscovery

With faith and courage, we can lift these emotional weights. The rewards are far greater than we can imagine.

We can rebuild our emotional strength and rediscover the light of love that has always been there, waiting to be seen.
